The Challenge for Enterprise Distributors
Resideo handed its shareholders one ADI share for every two of their own on July 20, 2026, and on August 3 ADI opened as an independent company answerable to its own shareholders. The business underneath that listing is old. Maurice Coleman founded the Alarm Device Manufacturing Company in New York in 1929, and the distribution arm has since belonged to Pittway, to Honeywell from 2000, and to Resideo from 2018. Now it answers to public investors on its own account
Independence changes what ADI has to prove. More than 200 stocking locations across 17 countries and roughly $4.8 billion of 2025 sales are a standalone story that has to be told every quarter, and the dealers producing that volume are small security and audio visual firms selling network attached cameras, access control heads, intrusion panels and the wiring between them. Those dealers are losing work they used to win, because the buyer now wants to know who is accountable for hardening the devices and who can show the evidence. ADI can ship the product on time. Standing up a services organization to answer the rest would eat the gross margin a newly listed distributor is being measured on
CWS was built to be that services organization without ever appearing on ADI's headcount. Our engineers deliver under the partner's name, to one standard, wherever the job sits in the United States or Canada, and in French when Quebec or a Canadian federal buyer requires it. Scoping and quoting run through Corova, which also gives the partner live project tracking instead of a weekly status email
Why This Matters for ADI Global Distribution
A spun off distributor has one job in year one, which is to show investors it can lift gross margin without buying it. Attached services are the cleanest way to do that. CWS supplies the delivery bench so ADI's dealer base closes the security work rather than watching it walk across the street to an integrator
