Industry Context

The Challenge for Enterprise Distributors

BlueStar dates to 1992, when its founder purchased United Radio and renamed the business. It now distributes point of sale, automatic data capture, RFID, digital signage and edge networking hardware to resellers in twenty four countries, working from a headquarters in Hebron, Kentucky and Canadian offices in Montreal, Mississauga and Surrey. The company reports more than 350 solution and support specialists behind that network. That Montreal address matters more than its size suggests

The categories BlueStar distributes are the ones that quietly turned into security problems. Point of sale terminals, barcode and RFID readers, digital signage players and edge networking gear all live on customer networks, frequently unpatched and rarely inventoried, and the resellers who move them built their expertise in data capture and store systems rather than in segmentation or incident response. When an end customer asks who is hardening the fleet, the question travels up the chain. Each of those resellers is a services opportunity and, left alone, a margin leak to somebody else's engineering team. Standing up a services bench in twenty four countries is not a realistic answer for a distributor, and adding one in Quebec means adding it in French

Absorbing that demand is what CWS was built for. We staff security engagements under a distributor's brand or under the brand of the reseller who owns the account, hold one delivery standard across the United States and Canada, and deliver in English and French so Quebec and Canadian federal requirements are met rather than sidestepped. Corova runs the scoping, the quoting and the project tracking, which lets a services line be quoted at the same speed as a hardware line

Positioned at the Point of Decision

Why This Matters for BlueStar

A distributor able to quote a security services line beside the hardware line keeps margin that currently leaves with a third party. The Canadian offices make the bilingual argument concrete, because a Montreal opportunity that cannot be delivered in French is not an opportunity. Attach rate is the entire case
