Industry Context

The Challenge for Mid-Market Resellers

Carbon60 as it exists today was assembled in 2019, when a Toronto infrastructure and security consultancy merged with GT.net of Vancouver and Cirrus9 of Saint John, New Brunswick. Two years later it bought OpsGuru, a multicloud consultancy. The result is more than 160 people holding SOC 2 and ISO 27001, running managed environments on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and VMware, where it is a Pinnacle Partner, for financial services, healthcare, public sector, energy, manufacturing, retail and technology customers

Four cloud platforms and four company origins is a lot of surface for that headcount. Managed service margin depends on standardising the work, and standardisation is exactly what a merger of three regional businesses plus a consultancy takes years to finish. Security is where the strain shows first, because the regulated end of the customer list, financial services, healthcare and public sector, asks for control design, evidence and audit support rather than platform operations. Canadian data residency work brings federal and Quebec buyers who want that evidence produced in French, which narrows the pool of people who can produce it

CWS takes that work off the platform team. Engineers deliver under the Carbon60 brand, to one delivery standard across Canada and the United States, and in French where a Quebec or Canadian federal engagement requires it. Corova runs the scoping, the quote and the project tracking, so security scope can be attached to a cloud managed services proposal while it is still being written. None of it requires a new hire. The cloud practice stays pointed at the platforms. The compliance conversation still gets an answer

Positioned at the Point of Decision

Why This Matters for Carbon60

Consolidation built the cloud practice. It did not build a security bench, and the customers pushing hardest on controls and evidence are the ones already paying the most. Renting that capability under the Carbon60 name beats making it the next integration project
