Kristin Russell was named CBTS chief executive in May 2025. Parent company Cincinnati Bell completed a $201 million acquisition of OnX Enterprise Solutions on 1 October 2017 and folded it into CBTS, where the Canadian business still trades as OnX Canada

Industry Context

The Challenge for Enterprise Resellers

CBTS spent its first three decades inside a phone company. Founded in 1994 as the technology arm of Cincinnati Bell, it ended up a services business sitting inside a fiber network operator, and in December 2024 TowerBrook Capital Partners completed its purchase from altafiber. The Canadian half had arrived earlier, when Cincinnati Bell bought OnX Enterprise Solutions for $201 million in 2017, adding Toronto offices and a division that still trades as OnX Canada

Independence came with a mandate to grow. CBTS serves clients across the United States, Canada and India with roughly 2,200 employees and around 2,000 contractors on active engagements, pulled from a global network of more than 40,000. That last figure is the interesting one. A firm that already borrows a large share of its delivery capacity has solved sourcing and inherited a harder problem, which is making borrowed engineers produce work a client cannot tell apart from CBTS work. Add a Palo Alto Networks practice carrying Advanced Specializations in Network Security, Cloud Security and Security Operations, and the bar a contractor has to clear rises again. Toronto lifts it once more, because Canadian buyers ask questions about residency and language that a Cincinnati bench does not answer by default

CWS was built for that gap. Our engineers work under the CBTS badge, on CBTS paper, to one delivery standard that does not change between Cincinnati and Toronto, in English and in French where a Canadian client requires it. Scoping, quoting and project tracking run in Corova, so the account team can see the state of an engagement without waiting for a status call

Why This Matters for CBTS

The contractor network already proves CBTS will rent capacity when the work demands it. Whether that capacity shows up with a standard attached, or has to be supervised into one, is the open question. CWS sells the standard, not the headcount
