The Challenge for Enterprise Resellers
ConRes sold the business it was founded on. Jim McCann Sr. started Continental Resources in 1962 renting and leasing test and measurement equipment to manufacturers who did not want the capital expense, and in November 2024 that division went to TestEquity, an operating company of Distribution Solutions Group. Both businesses had run under one roof for more than sixty years. What is left in Bedford, Massachusetts is the IT solutions arm, still family owned and certified as a Women's Business Enterprise
Rental was a balance sheet business with predictable returns and a depreciation schedule. IT solutions is an engineering business, and engineering scales through people. WBENC certification puts ConRes on the supplier diversity programs of large enterprises and government agencies, which is excellent for pipeline and unforgiving on delivery, since a diversity supplier is measured against the same statement of work as everyone else. Having no outside shareholders means no acquisition budget for buying a security practice the way private equity backed competitors do. Growing an engineering bench out of cash flow is the honest route and the slow one, and the security work now arriving through those enterprise programs is not waiting
That is the trade CWS removes. Our engineers deliver under the ConRes name, to a single standard, across the United States and Canada, in English and in French where Quebec or Canadian federal customers require it. Corova handles scoping, quoting and project tracking, so capacity arrives as a line on a statement of work rather than a hiring requisition. There is no ramp to fund and no severance risk to carry. The customer sees ConRes from first call to close

Why This Matters for ConRes
Six decades of independence is an asset and a constraint at once. ConRes answers to customers rather than a fund's exit clock, and the security bench grows only as fast as retained earnings allow. Renting capability instead of building it keeps the first part and deletes the second
