Cyderes is what happened when Herjavec Group and Fishtech merged in 2021 and rebranded a year later. Two founder-led businesses with strong identities, from Toronto and Kansas City respectively, put under one name and one private equity owner.

Rebranding away from a founder's name is a deliberate trade. It buys an identity that is not tied to one person, and it costs whatever recognition that person carried. Herjavec was a known name in Canadian security, partly through television. The customers who chose the firm for that reason did not choose Cyderes, and the ones who arrive now have no particular reason to prefer it over any other private-equity-backed MDR provider. What replaces a founder's reputation has to be demonstrable delivery, consistently, across a business that used to be two.

CWS delivers to one documented standard across the US and Canada, including French where Canadian federal and Quebec work requires it. For a business that gave up a recognisable name in favour of being judged on execution, consistency across both countries is the thing being judged.
