Founded in Chicago in 1991 and led by Stel Valavanis, onShore Security built its name on a security operations center pointed at banks and large regional financial institutions rather than at everybody. The Palo Alto Networks MSSP program admitted the firm in 2022. In January 2025 CyberMaxx of Linthicum Heights, Maryland acquired it, one of two deals announced that day, the other being Cybersafe Solutions

Acquisitions change the questions a banking client asks. Contracts get reread, the operations center gets rebadged, and the account team spends a year proving that a service bought from a Chicago firm still behaves the way it did. The parent, meanwhile, is buying for scale, and scale means the project work surrounding monitoring has to be delivered at volumes the old team never had to hit. SIEM migrations and identity clean ups after an examination finding compete with platform integration for the same engineers, and integration usually wins that argument. Regional banks watch this closely, because a change of vendor is itself an examinable event
