Open Systems was founded in Basel on 25 October 1990, before the word cybersecurity existed, and its early work was with Swiss banks. EQT took a majority stake in 2017 and sold the company to Swiss Post in a deal that closed on 21 October 2024. It still operates as a standalone entity from Zurich, serving customers in more than 180 countries. Along the way it won Microsoft Security MSSP Partner of the Year for 2022 and bought Tiberium, a London automation specialist, in November of that year

State ownership reads differently on each side of the Atlantic.
