TELUS bought Vumetric in May 2024, a penetration testing firm that had been running out of Quebec City since 2007 with an ISO 9001 certified process behind it. The purchase was narrow and deliberate, made by a company whose 2025 operating revenues and other income reached $20.5 billion, essentially none of it from penetration tests. Hiring more testers is the obvious answer and also the slow one, since the number of people who can run a credible engagement in two languages is small and every Canadian buyer is bidding on the same names
