Three private equity firms have owned Trace3 since 2017. H.I.G. Capital bought the Irvine company that year, American Securities took it over in 2021, and Apollo Funds closed their purchase on November 3, 2025, with American Securities keeping a significant minority stake. Nobody buys a services business at that cadence in order to leave it alone. What Trace3 sells is engineering weight, and about half of its roughly 1,500 people are engineers, consultants and architects. That ratio is why clients choose the firm. It is also the heaviest thing on the books. Six acquisitions since 2018 have been absorbed into one brand, most recently IVOXY Consulting in 2025 for Seattle and Portland coverage, and Zivaro in 2024, which became the federal unit Trace3 Government. Set Solutions brought a Houston cybersecurity team in 2023 and LaSalle Solutions brought lifecycle management in 2022, so the security practice is itself an assembly of acquired teams.
